Consultant to coordinate the development of a Nutrient Profile Model for Lao PDR – UNICEF (remote, 6 months)

Description: UNICEF is supporting the Ministry of Health of Lao PDR to develop a context-appropriate, evidence-based Nutrient Profile Model (NPM). The model will classify foods and beverages by nutritional composition and support school food regulations, marketing restrictions, front-of-pack labelling, nutrition standards for procurement and school menus, and alignment with the National Nutrition Strategy 2026-2035. The consultant provides high-level lead, facilitation and coordination support to the Ministry of Health to design, develop, validate and support approval and application of the NPM, working with a Technical Working Group and partners (National University of Laos Faculty of Agriculture, Lao Tropical Public Health Institute, WHO, WFP, FAO and others). Requirements: - Master's in Nutrition, Public Health, Food Policy, Social Sciences, International Development or a clearly related discipline. - At least 5 years of relevant experience working with government and development partners in the social sector, including contributing to national guidelines and regulations on nutrition. - Fluency in English, spoken and written. Lao language is desirable. - Ability to work independently, good analytical, writing and communication skills, familiarity with Lao PDR government processes on nutrition.
