Underground Electrical Supervisor, Phu Bia Mining

Description: Phu Bia Mining, a Lao-registered company 90% owned by PanAust Limited, is hiring an Underground Electrical Supervisor. Its Phu Kham Copper-Gold and Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver operations are in Xaisomboun Province, 120 km north of Vientiane. Roster: 9 days on site, 5 days off to Vientiane Capital (residential). Fly-in fly-out roster of 28/14 days for FIFO staff. Benefits listed: bonus incentive, health insurance, children's education and housing allowance (residential only), parental leave. The role reports to the Fixed Plant Maintenance Asset Management Superintendent. You are responsible for the safe installation, inspection, troubleshooting and maintenance of all underground electrical systems and equipment, supporting and supervising the underground electricians. Responsibilities: - Planned preventive and corrective maintenance of underground electrical systems (substations, pumps, fans, switchgear, cables, lighting, communications); install and commission new equipment. - Safety and compliance with PBM policies, Lao electrical safety regulations and international standards; report hazards, take part in job safety analysis and risk assessments. - Support underground operations; troubleshoot drills, loaders (LHDs) and conveyors; support dewatering, ventilation and power distribution. - Keep accurate maintenance records (e.g. SAP); monitor condition of electrical systems, cable management, earthing and protection. - Contribute to maintenance planning, improvements, and training of junior electricians and apprentices. Requirements: - Recognised trade qualification in Electrical Fitting or Electrical Technology (Certificate III or equivalent). - Minimum 3 years in underground mining or a heavy industrial environment. - Knowledge of underground electrical systems, reticulation and HV/LV equipment; reading schematics and single-line diagrams. - Lockout/tagout and safe isolation experience; familiarity with CMMS. - Fluent spoken and written English; Lao language skills advantageous. - Strong commitment to health and safety; able to work in multicultural teams and remote mining environments.
