Overview of the Role Reporting to the General Manager, Vehicle Rentals Laos & Indonesia, the Deputy General Manager is responsible for supporting the overall management, operations, and strategic direction for the vehicle rentals business in Laos. The role provides leadership across multiple functions to drive operational efficiency, profitability, customer service, and continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with RMA Group standards and local requirements. As second-in-command, the Deputy General Manager will also represent the General Manager when required. Key Responsibilities Lead cross-functional collaboration across rental operations, fleet, finance, HR, and customer service. Support the development and execution of commercial strategies and key account management for corporate clients. Drive operational efficiency throughout the fleet lifecycle, including maintenance and related activities. Champion the implementation of digital tools and systems to streamline operations, reduce manual processes, and minimize paper use. Ensure compliance with RMA Group standards and applicable local laws. Act as second-in-command and represent the General Manager when required. Assist in monitoring the annual budget and support effective financial reporting and cost-control initiatives. Ensure the business remains focused on achieving revenue, profitability, and efficiency targets. Foster a high-performance and accountable culture across teams. Develop leadership capabilities among direct reports and ensure team structures, headcount, and KPIs are aligned with strategic objectives. Maintain a strong understanding of international car rental standards and compliance requirements, including insurance and fleet management. Apply sound financial analysis to support effective business decision-making. Promote scenario planning, strategic thinking, and long-term business planning. Build effective relationships with RMA businesses and Group management, rentals employees, support functions, clients, insurance providers, suppliers, and other key stakeholders. Background and Experience Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field. Several years of management experience within a similar business environment. Strong understanding of modern motor industry practices and processes, particularly within the vehicle rentals sector Demonstrated P&L responsibility and strong commercial and financial acumen. Proven leadership and people-management capabilities, with the ability to create a high-performance environment where employees can develop and excel. Strong customer-facing and interpersonal skills, including the ability to successfully manage challenging situations. Excellent negotiation skills, supported by strong numeracy and literacy. Strong strategic and analytical thinking with the ability to translate business objectives into actionable plans. Results-oriented, resilient, adaptable, and capable of managing competing priorities in a changing business environment. Strong teamwork and relationship-building capabilities within diverse and multicultural environments. Excellent verbal and written communication, influencing, and presentation skills. Fluent English is essential; Lao and/or Thai language capability is an advantage. Ideally, an expatriate with professional experience working in Asian countries or a Laotian national with international experience. The position is based in Vientiane, Laos, and requires occasional domestic travel to branch locations. International travel may also be required for regional meetings and training. The successful candidate will be expected to operate effectively across a broad range of internal and external stakeholders and demonstrate strong leadership, management, strategic thinking, analytical capability, flexibility, resilience, teamwork, and communication skills.
